Title (Max 100 Charaters)
The suspect in the shooting of a Tacoma school teacher was shot and killed by Pierce County Sheriff's deputies this morning.
Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer told KOMO Newsradio that the "suspect came out of his car with a gun and fired at deputies" in Fredricson, near Puyallup.
He said deputies knew they were stopping someone who had been involved in a recent shooting and "it could have neded differently, but it didn't".
The teacher, who has not been identified, had been with the Tacoma School District for six years and had previously taught at Hunt Middle School and Stanley Elementary before coming to Birney Elementary, died at the scene.
Students had not arrived at school at the time of the shooting. Those that do arrive are being taken to the community center at 7802 South L Street.
A daycare center near where the suspect was shot has been evacuated while the police conduct an investigation.
Trowyer said there was no danger to the children, but that "it just wasn't a good place for kids to be right now."
