Local company trading 'bounce houses' for food donations | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
A local real estate company is taking an unusual approach to raising food for the less fortunate.
Homes on the Sound of Federal Way is letting local kids use the company’s gigantic inflatable “bounces houses” for birthday parties. All the company asks in return is that the kids—or their parents—donate canned and non-perishable food to the St. Leo Food Connection in Tacoma.
Homes on the Sound's David Berg came up with the idea after hearing about a Texas company offering a similar trade.
“I hadn’t heard of anybody doing it in this area and I just thought it would be great idea,” he said.
Berg purchased two of the 16-foot-tall and 15-foot-wide houses last summer, and he’s already lent them out to several birthday parties.
So far, Berg said the houses have been a hit with kids.
“The kids really had a blast,” he said.
