If you're wanting to get to NW Tacoma today, you may want to change your route slightly.

WSDOT has closed the Highway 509 bridge over the Puyallup River until 9 p.m. today as they finish repair work on part of the bridge damaged by a rail car fire in 2002.

Crews are removing girders from the bridge today, thus the reason for the closure.
