Strickland's lead now over 1,000 votes after Saturday's count

After the counting of ballots on Saturday, Marilyn Strickland is that much closer to becoming Tacoma's mayor.

Her lead over Jim Merritt is now 1,090 votes, a jump of over 300 from Friday's total.  Strickland's lead has steadily been climbing after each vote count.

Here's the totals after Saturday from the Pierce County Election Office:

  • Marilyn Strickland  18,293  51.4%
  • Jim Merritt  17,203  48.3%
  • write-in votes  83  0.2%
