Police searching for home invasion suspect

The Tacoma Police Department is asking for help locating a suspect in a home invasion robbery that terrorized a 69-year-old Tacoma woman last week.

Charging documents allege that the robbery was planned by the 26-year-old son of the victim.

The son, Bobby Ray McKinney, along with accomplices Jesse Eugene Grimes and Monaroes Sar, are accused of carrying out the robbery in the 3600 block of S. Gunnison, and threatening the 69-year-old woman at gunpoint late on April 17.

When police arrived, Sar fled on foot and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

A felony arrest warrant has been issued for Sar, for robbery in the first degree, burglary in the first degree, and unlawful imprisonment.

Sar is an asian male, 26 years old, 5’4” tall and 185 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.

"Sar has a history of violent crime and firearm possession; he should be considered armed and dangerous," says Crime Stoppers.

All three suspects are members of the Juggalos street gang, say court papers.

Fire department rescue for two men stuck on cliff

Two men who found themselves stranded on a Point Defiance cliff at high tide Sunday evening had to be rescued by the Tacoma Fire Department's Technical Rescue Team.

The team arrived just after 6 p.m. Sunday to discover two men clutching trees and stuck about 30 feet from the top of a cliff near the Gig Harbor viewpoint.

The men's access to the beach was cut off by rising tides, and their attempts to scale the cliff left them stranded.

The team used a rope system to rappel, secure the men and return them to safety with no injuries reported.

Shooting victim's mother: 'I just want my baby back'

Filled with grief over her toddler son's death, Jahnisha McIntosh struggled to find the words.

"I just want my baby," she said. "I just want my baby back."

Three-year-old Julio Segura-McIntosh fatally shot himself in the head early Wednesday morning. Police said the boy scrambled out of his child seat after his mom and her boyfriend stopped for gas, and found a gun that police believe was left in the car by the man.

"It's just overwhelming," said the boy's mother, flushed with anguish. "I'll do anything to get my baby back."

Tacoma police said the boy's death came after his mother's boyfriend put his pistol under a seat and got out to pump gas while the mother went inside the convenience store. The boy's infant sister, who also was in the car when the gun went off, was not injured.

Detectives questioned the pair and have called the shooting a tragic accident, Officer Naveed Benjamin said. The man has a concealed weapons permit, and no charges have been filed, he said. Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist said that he is reviewing the case for possible manslaughter charges.

Anti-gay church to protest Powell boys' memorial service

TACOMA, Wash. - A rabidly anti-gay church known for its loud protests is planning to picket Saturday's funeral for the two sons of missing mom Susan Powell, who died in a raging house fire Sunday.

Margie Phelps of the Topeka, Kan.-based Westboro Baptist Church sent out a tweet saying the church will attend the boys' memorial service as a protest against the pending legalization of gay marriage in Washington state.

The two boys, Charlie and Braden Powell, were killed Sunday in a gasoline-fueled house fire set by their father Josh Powell after they arrived for a supervised visit. Powell himself also died in the inferno.

Alina Powell, Josh Powell's sister, called the church's planned protest "a horrible, disdainful act that serves no purpose other than to continue the years-long objectification of those little boys."

In an email message, Alina Powell said:

Police discover dead body in Tacoma ravine

Tacoma police are trying to figure out how a woman died and why her body was in a ravine in the city's Salishan neighborhood.

Neighbors first discovered the woman on Tuesday at the bottom of a 60-foot ravine in a wooded area near South 38th Street and Portland Avenue.

Police and fire personnel responded to the scene and found the body of an adult female. There were no obvious signs of trauma, and police believe the body had been in the ravine for several days.

Police say transients are known to frequent the area.

The Pierce County Medical Examiners will conduct their portion of the investigation to identify the woman and the cause of death.
