Lovers of fresh produce rejoice: Tacoma Farmers Markets open this week.

The season kicks off Tuesday, with the opening of the SIxth Avenue Market. Downtown's Broadway Market opens Thursday.

With the opening of market season comes a highly anticipated change in hours. Market officials said in March that they were trying serve more of the community through tweaked hours.

The Proctor Farmers' Market, which operates independently, has been open on Saturdays since March.

New hours:

Sixth Avenue Market: Tuesdays 3-7 p.m., beginning May 3.

Broadway Market: Thursdays 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., beginning May 5

South Tacoma Market: Sundays 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., beginning June 5
